10:01 pm worth of diamond rings — right off of her own fingers. and tonight we have dramatic surveillance tape of the heist. misa maruyama is here with our top story. misa. the shop owner says a robber stole diamond rings worth more than the average single family home. she says he may be gone for good. but wants to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. we had already established a trust, and then there he goes! jewelry shop owner rita linder says this man, shown in her store’s surveillance video, is a smooth criminal. he had a very nice manner about him, very relaxed. he told her he was looking for an engagement ring for his fiancee. i showed him a couple of stones and he said this one was really down in color. is it an l or an m. only someone who knows diamonds knows that. so she showed him two five carat yellow diamonds and a three karat white diamond … all worth a whopping 290 thousand dollars.

10:02 pm one me out of this case, so i took it and walked to the window, and put them each on a finger. then he grabbed them and ran out of the store, and i ran after him, and i fell. i mean every time i think about, even now, i feel like i’m going to cry. i mean, i got hurt. my whole body is hurt. i mean, my knees are killing me. every time i think about it i feel like crying. linder says the robber sprayed two bystanders with mace on the way out. neighboring business owners ran to help. but it was too late. i just want him caught. i am insured, we’ll collect our money, but i would hate for someone else to go through what we went through because this is something i will never forget, ever. santa fe police are on the look- out for the suspect. he’s described as a hispanic male –

10:03 pm who’s between five feet six to five feet nine inches tall. police say he has a military style hair cut and tatoos on his scalp. he reportedly took off in a black nissan altima with tinted windows. linders says this is the first time someone stole from her store in four decades of doing business.
