Diamons Engagement Rings

In September of 2004 my fiancé and I took a trip to visit my jeweler Johnny in Houston Texas to have our wedding rings designed and made. My Fiancé had been bugging the crap out of me about when the Jeweler would have them ready. The rings finally came in and I surprised her with them at dinner on October 29th 2004. I had the waitress bring them out as if she was serving us food.. My Fiancé had no clue! Her ring has a 1.5 ct vvs princess cut stone with smaller invisble set princess cut stones to the left and right. Not as extravagant as the engagement rings but still a bit classy.
Not looking for costly prices either.

I’m looking for an emerald cut diamond for an engagement ring and have found the following:

Cut – Emerald
Clarity – VS2
Color – E
Carat – 0.97
Flour – None
Polish/Symmetry – VG
Depth – 63.9
Table – 84
Measurements – 6.56 x 5.29 x 3.38
Certification – EGL

I’ve been quoted a price of $4,000. The two items that concern me are the EGL cert and the high table. Is this diamond worth the price?

It sounds like a "fair" price.
The table is a bit big. The cutter was trying for a large "spread"; meaning they tried to maximize the length/width size from the crystal. The facets on the top of the stone should be matched with the facets on the bottom for maximum sparkle.
VS2 by definition is NOT visible with the naked eye, however if there is any irregularity, you would be more likely to see it with an emerald cut stone over a round or oval or pear shape.

It is good to look for a loose stone (so you can compare "apples to apples". My advice is to shop around and compare. Don’t worry … you will make an informed and good choice. Oh, one more thing, shop with a jeweler, not just discount stores. You will do a better job of getting what you pay for AND you will start building a relationship with someone you can trust, so when it comes time to have the ring cleaned, sized, appraised, repaired etc. you will have someone you can trust and feel comfortable with doing the work. A jeweler is someone you can have an "old time" working relationship with that will payoff many times over, in the future. Besides that, you will get some great deals with anniversary purchases in the future.

I have a cleaning solution, it works beautifully, but I don’t know how often to use it.

You only clean it when it looks as if there is a build up of dirt. Maybe every month or two. It depends what and where yours hands are active. Lolz. If you don’t get involved with washing dishes and picking up trash in the yard bare hands you can clean it like every month. That’s enough.

I know that lab created diamonds are chemically the same as natural diamonds. But I’m having a hard time figuring out which sellers are selling lab created diamonds or are scamming with CZ or some kind of synthetic diamond. Any recommendations on where to buy lab created rings?

Be sure to stay away from anyone selling "lab created simulated diamonds." They are NOT the same thing, and are usually CZ.
A "synthetic" diamond IS a lab-created diamond, with the same mineralogical properties as natural diamond. It will be identical to diamond in hardness, etc.
A "simulated" diamond looks similar to diamond, but can be anything from CZ to glass.
